Trump Doesn’t Justify His Assertions
|

The presidential election of 2024 concludes a mere three days from now. Out of habit, I am tempted to say that Election Day is three days hence, but the reality is that many people have already voted by one means or another. Early voting has always made me nervous, as significant events can occur between casting one’s early vote and the official Election Day. A candidate could become deathly ill or die, for example. Or a candidate’s unlawful or immoral activity might become known. This year, however, the appearance of damaging new information about Kamala Harris seems unlikely, and damaging new revelations about Donald Trump are greeted with indifference by his supporters. I continue to be amazed by Trump’s blatant falsehoods and their apparent belief by those planning to vote for him. Likely, there are also less gullible supporters who simply enjoy a perverse pleasure in Trump’s lies. It is, I think, significant that college-educated voters tend to favor Harris for president, and the non-college educated tend to favor Trump. Trump once famously said, “I love the poorly educated!” As well he should. Well-educated citizens have likely been taught to seek the truth, both as a practical and moral imperative. Politicians have always shaded the truth, of course. Even the best of the lot often traffic in half-truths. Donald Trump, on the other hand, is sui generis in his total disregard of facts and his willingness to make false claims without embarrassment. He gleefully make such assertions without any justification or explanation, expecting his people to believe them because they came from him. I offer here a brief list of assertions made by Donald Trump without the slightest bit of supporting information, largely because there is none:
The list could go on and on, potentially lengthening daily. All the above assertions are false, and Trump has never offered justification for any of them. In dealing with Trump’s many assertions, keep in mind this poem from my Trump Alphabet:
